in the community
Your student learns how to live as a responsible member of the Leelanau community. She takes her turn at kitchen duty, works out differences with her roommate, helps keep the campus clean, and perhaps serves as dorm prefect. But she also learns the importance of getting involved in the larger community. Leelanau staff and students volunteer at the Traverse City Women’s Resource Center, Habitat for Humanity, the Goodwill Inn Homeless Shelter, and the National Park Service. We teach 4-H students how to ski and snowboard and raise funds for the Father Fred Foundation, a local charity that cares for the poor.
