The Leelanau School…
Please look forward to our Summer 2010 Advanced Placement Institute! We know we are: Summer! Beach! Bonfires! And Advanced Placement Teachers!
The sixteenth Annual Institute for Teaching of Advanced Placement will be held on the campus of The Leelanau School, Sunday, June 21-Friday, June 26, 2009. Co-sponsored by The Leelanau School and The College Board, these week long conferences offer excellent training for teachers, both with experience and new to advanced placement. For new teachers, there will be special sessions devoted to becoming better informed about the fundamentals of the Advanced Placement Program. For experienced teachers, a chance to learn about the newest trends in their content areas will be discussed. AP Institutes are also ideally suited for Department Chairpersons, Gifted and Talented teachers, and Curriculum Coordinators.
Located in the heart of the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, The Leelanau School is one of the most outstanding natural classrooms in the Midwest. Leelanau means Land of Delight. The turquoise lakes, sandy beaches of Lake Michigan, beautiful wildflowers, enchanting forests, vast tracts of wilderness, and Crystal River combine to create the beautiful surroundings of Leelanau – truly a Land of Delight.
The Leelanau School is a non-profit institution with a history of quality education. Founded in 1929 by Skipper and Cora Beals, the School is located in Glen Arbor, Michigan. In addition to its summer program offerings, The Leelanau School is a fully accredited, college preparatory, co-educational, boarding and day school serving students with learning differences in grades 9-12.
Institute Instructors…
Institute instructors for each subject area have been carefully selected for their actual experience with the AP Program. They have all taught AP in their respective schools for many years and have been part of leading AP Workshops around the county and have read and graded AP exams. The combination of their knowledge and the magnificent surroundings make this experience a unique learning vacation.
